About VELG
Voc Ed Learning Group (VELG) is now Australia's leading provider of vocational education and training (VET) professional development and consulting services.
VELG conducts regular professional development workshops on VET and AQTF (Australian Quality Training Framework) compliance issues, such as assessment, validation and recognition of prior learning.
The VELG Workshop Resource Folder is unique in its format, containing resources, templates, PowerPoint slides with additional notes, activities and further sources of information. It gives attendees the tools they need to put their new-found skills into practice straight away as well as the means to professionally develop their colleagues.
VELG also provides a professional consulting service to VET organisations using 14 industry-experienced consultants, who provide real-world assistance, training and comment.
The VELG National Conference is now in its fourth year - with the 2010 conference being held in Sydney on 5 & 6 August. The VELG National Conference has now become the largest on the VET circuit, featuring premier presenters as well as providing excellent networking opportunities.
VELG also runs a state conference in Queensland designed especially for VET in Schools - the VELG QLD VET Symposium.
The VELG Professional Development Membership Program is now extremely popular, providing members with discounts to VELG workshops and conferences, as well as a monthly e-newsletter, regular e-alerts and access to the Members Section of this website.
VELG Mission Statement:
To provide high quality and relevant professional development and consulting services to vocational education and training staff throughout Australia.
Sustainability and VELG
VELG is now a carbon neutral organisation and has made a commitment to reduce, reuse and recycle as well as measure and manage carbon emissions.
Achievements
VELG was established in 2003 by former VET business teacher Michelle Weaver, who is the VELG Director.
Michelle was a finalist in the 2010 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards (northern region).
Late last year, Michelle won the Young Business Women's Award at the 2009 Telstra Queensland Business Women's Awards and was a finalist in the national awards. The judges were impressed how Michelle had turned VELG - a one-woman-band opererating out of Brisbane - into the national leader of VET PD services in Australia.
Michelle was also a finalist in the 2009 Women in Business Awards, promoted through Queensland Business Review.
